“Hey Tisha, You might want to check into what you are doing…. it’s illegal to sell and distribute raw milk products in Colorado.”

What?  It is illegal to drink milk?  I thought there was a government-supported campaign for ‘Got Milk’?  Aren’t I doing my due-diligence with my raw milk mustache?

Oh, raw milk – dangerous, poisonous, and successfully consumed as a medicine for thousands of years in cultures and countries across the world – is illegal to sell in Colorado and in most states in the Corporate United States of America.  Now, it is okay according to our federal government and look-out-for-you agency, The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to consume genetically-modified-organisms (GMOs) that alter the DNA of species of plants and animals that can negative affects for generations, not to mention completely wiping out species – these are “safe”.  These are not only safe, but already in our food supply (thanks for asking us and labeling them!) But raw milk isn’t safe?  The very medicine that was used and marketed as medicine not even 100 years ago in our very own country!

And now, when I make an inquiry about raw milk, the poor farmers and producers immediately shout back, not wanting to have anything in writing, not wanting to have any liability because of the fear that local health departments, and even federal agencies, have instilled in them – sometimes using force and at least once at gunpoint.  ‘Your dairy will be shut down if you do anything illegal”.  Well, selling raw milk is illegal, and the way around it right now is to purchase a share of the herd, or the cow, and then (theoretically) it is your property.  But what happens if the government (federal, State, or local) tells you that THAT is now illegal.  What do you do?  Do you not milk your cows?  Sell off your herd?  Stop drinking raw milk?  Are you okay with that?  Are you okay with being told that you must stop farming, and that you can’t drink raw milk?

Enraging. Liberals – where are you at?  Why aren’t we being more progressive about food freedom?  Conservatives – where are you at?  Why aren’t we protecting small businesses, farmers, ranchers, and property rights?  I don’t care what you are, who you claim to be – this should be enraging to you that we have small-time producers and individual consumers feeling threatened to drink a substance that is safer than the pasteurized, homogenized, nutrient-void, dead white substance that is sold in grocery stores today.

Fear – the intense fear of reproach from a government agency for doing something that is your natural right.  We are so fearful as a nation, and when it comes to food, we best get over it because it is our only protection against sickness and a sure-bet at restoring local economies.  People need food – and people need food with nutrients.  When our corporation-backed Congress decides that is it okay for you to eat GMOs but not drink raw milk, we have a problem.  Welcome to the rabbit hole that we are in.

Don’t forget, there are a lot of people that are doing great things that are not afraid to speak up against the intrusion of government, but are nonetheless doing the right thing.  Be sure and support them, purchase their products, and stand up for them when the time comes.  Future generations depend on people like you.
