The Entourage Effect is becoming more and more of a researched and intriguing concept. It’s basically the enhanced impact that multiple cannabinoids and/or terpenes have when working together. Let’s take a look at one of the main ways that Linalool (a prominent terpene) and CBD work together.
Linalool is most commonly found in lavender and hemp. Linalool plays a significant role in giving lavender it’s distinct flavor and scent. Interestingly, Linalool works powerfully to help control anxiety. As this study from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) says: “The findings obtained suggest that LEO from C. osmophloeum ct. linalool and its major compound, S-(+)-linalool, possess anxiolytic properties without any side effects and thus support their potential use in treatment of anxiety disorders.”
CBD is very frequently used to help with anxiety as well. This study gave a brief overview that hundreds of other studies have gone more in depth with. It says:
“We found that existing preclinical evidence strongly supports CBD as a treatment for generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder when administered acutely; however, few studies have investigated chronic CBD dosing. Likewise, evidence from human studies supports an anxiolytic role of CBD, but is currently limited to acute dosing, also with few studies in clinical populations. Overall, current evidence indicates CBD has considerable potential as a treatment for multiple anxiety disorders, with need for further study of chronic and therapeutic effects in relevant clinical populations.”
It’s no wonder a lot of people use full-spectrum products, which contain a variety of terpenes and cannabinoids, such as linalool and CBD, to help control their anxiety. Every body is different, and everyone absorbs compounds at a different rate and have different levels of sensitivities – however, the combination of just these two compounds among hundreds of others, explains why so many people are finding success for helping with anxiety.
These studies again show the power of using a full-spectrum product, as opposed to an isolated product of CBD. Our suggestion is to take the time to research a product, find out where it’s grown, what the other ingredients are, find out its purity, if it is independently verified and tested, and also whether it is full-spectrum.
